Young people tend to think that they are invincible, but even adults are guilty of neglecting proper medical contingency plans. A car accident, sudden fall or unexpected disease can drain an employee's bank account if they do not have the proper insurance. Therefore, it is important to utilize employee benefit consulting services if you are starting a new job and are unsure of certain medical policies.
PR Newswire reported that Aflac recently published its 2012 WorkForces Report, which discovered that 62 percent of workers do not think it is likely that they or their family members will be diagnosed with a life-threatening ailment such as cancer. In addition, over half of the responders believed they were immune to chronic conditions like gastrointestinal or heart disease. This alarming statistic is why it is more important than ever to receive proper benefits from employers.
"Most individuals are looking to their employers to educate them about all available benefits options…to better understand how they can have a more secure safety net," said Aflac corporate services VP Audrey Boone Tillman. "It's critical for employers to effectively communicate year-round about how new benefit options like voluntary insurance can help with high out-of-pocket expenses associated with a serious illness or accident."
