According to Human Resource Executive Online, vendors are developing HR management software inspired partly by popular social networks. The intent is to implement HR applications which managers and employees can use more easily, promoting productivity.
In one system being developed, managers send work requests to employees and the involved parties then discuss details such as the deadline before agreeing to the final schedule. The system then tracks any comments, work completed, progress and due dates.
This creates a new degree of transparency, allowing executives to see who did what and when. At the same time, they need not interrupt, and possibly disrupt, employees in the middle of important tasks just for a status update.
Delegation of responsibilities and tasks can be easily tracked, and as records accumulate it will be possible to review information such as the timeliness of delivery. The software and information is designed to be accessible from various locations using the internet.
Other vendors have different approaches. One case, for example, tracks progress against deadlines and automatically identifies delayed goals, or those in jeopardy of missing completion dates. Using such methods, software may significantly simplify HR and management, and save time on coordinating work.
