While the economy may not be in full swing yet, many employees may be beginning to look on the bright side, according to a recent survey conducted by Accountemps.
Of those CFOs polled, 42 percent stated that workplace morale had improved in the last 12 months. In addition, only 5 percent of businesses reported that company moral had worsened in the same period, according to the source.
Much of this may be due to efforts by HR departments to improve employee satisfaction. While the stress of layoffs and job insecurity may have taken its toll on many industries over the past few years, those businesses that have experienced financial improvements may want to share some of the gains with their staff, according to the source.
"Companies have been taking steps to increase job satisfaction and boost employee motivation among teams that have been through a difficult few years," explained Max Messmer of Accountemps. "Businesses that recognize and address the concerns of staff members during the extended recovery can instill greater loyalty over the long term."
HR management systems have several options when it comes to boosting employee sentiment. While employee benefit packages are a more traditional way of rewarding a job well done, other incentives can also help. For example, gift cards or a free lunch could be another way to recognize good work performance. Keeping communication open and publicly recognizing hard working individuals are additional methods HR departments can employ, the source explains.
