Job seekers recently told Monster.com that when given the choice between strong benefits and a caring company or a greater salary, benefits were more important.

Of the 468 individuals surveyed, 87 percent stated that finding a company that cares about its employees was a prime concern, according to the source. In addition, 84 percent of respondents stated that finding a challenging and rewarding position was another driving factor in their job search.

Job security and a good employee benefits packages were also highly desired, at 82 and 74 percent, respectively.

Human resource representatives who were also polled seemed to echo employee sentiment, with 86 percent of HR leaders stating that providing financial protection benefits for employees and their families was of high importance. Moves to provide for families in the event of an emergency was seen by 82 percent of individuals as a strong indicator that a company was concerned with its staff's well-being.

While many employers may have been operating under the assumption that salary was the main enticement for most individuals, it seems that paychecks were less important to some, with only 66 percent of survey participants stating that stating that a high base salary with added bonuses was very important to them.
