If scientists weren't constantly discovering new treatments or coming up with updated health recommendations, offering employees benefit packages would be a great deal simpler. However, the fact of the matter is that there are advances made every day in the realm of disease prevention. Employers who want to maintain good relationships with their workers would do well to heed any news of recent breakthroughs or reports.
For example, the Los Angeles Times reports that a panel affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control has recently begun advocating for the inoculation of adolescent boys against sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV). The prevalence of this disease is growing, and many men can end up passing it along to women (for whom it is much more dangerous) later in life.
In years past, this sort of immunization wouldn't have been a priority for doctors and health professionals. However, it is growing in importance and will likely soon be de rigeur for pre-teens. Companies that offer their workers family health packages may want to include this and other procedures on plans so that workers are satisfied that their compensation is fair and modern.
