If employers want to keep their workers engaged and motivated at the job place, they would be wise to make employee benefits more generous.
According to a recent poll conducted by Ipsos on behalf of human resources and staffing firm Randstad, more than one-third of respondents indicated that bonuses, promotions and benefits packages served as the most effective ways to incentivize them to want to perform well on the job.
Jim Link, managing director of human resources for Randstad, noted that many business owners have a hard time determining the best ways of keeping their workers satisfied so they don't become jaded.
"One of the most challenging obstacles for employers is finding what works for their culture and employees when it comes to keeping workers engaged and invested in their work and the company," said Link. "Compensation usually ranks at the top of the list, however our research shows it is important to offer a full package of motivating tactics that not only provide benefits but also promote leadership and professional development."
Other incentives that respondents said would make them more willing to stay with their company included having a stimulating work environment, the poll found. However, even if these incentives weren't offered, more than half of the survey's participants said it would take them less than five months to find a new position.
This may make employee benefit consulting a top priority, so workers are fully aware of the conveniences they can take advantage of. Link indicated that doing this can not only increase productivity but boost the confidence employees have in themselves as well as the companies they work for.
